A wild and captivating territory, inhabited since prehistoric times but isolated and inaccessible until very recently. The Os Ancares mountain range is filled with small valleys dotted villages tucked between peaks reaching 2000 meters in height. For centuries, life here unfolded in pallozas—circular huts with thatched roofs where people and domestic animals coexisted. The landscape features forests of oaks, chestnuts, beeches, holly, hazelnuts, and birches. Heather and broom-covered meadows abound. The area is home to wild boars, deer, chamois, foxes, roe deer, and wolves. This mountain range extends across the municipalities of Becerreá, Navia de Suarna, and Cervantes. It is designated as a Zone of Special Protection for Natural Values (ZEPVN).
