Located in the heart of the city of Vigo, the Afundación Theater was inaugurated in 1984. It represents a restoration project of historical heritage, reviving the Garcia Barbón Theater designed by architect Antonio Palacios in the early 20th century. Its style is characterized as academic eclecticism, and it features the distinctive curves and counter-curves typical of the Galician architect, which draw inspiration from the Opera Garnier in Paris. As for the interior layout, Palacios emphasized the entrance with a spacious oval foyer and a grand staircase, illuminated from above through a stained glass window crafted by the International House of Stained Glass Maumejean.
