Caaveiro Monastery

Hidden in the heart of the forest, the Caaveiro monastery is an ancient monastery with over 10 centuries of history and spectacular views of this magical fraga [small forest]. It comprises a set of buildings (some of which have disappeared over time), such as the main church, the Church of Santa Isabel, the cells, the chapterhouse, the sacristy, the well, the warehouses, the archive, and the bell tower. Its recent restoration earned it the European Award for Intervention in Architectural Heritage in the category of outdoor spaces.
