Curtocircuíto is an international festival that promotes contemporary film creation and the most innovative audiovisual languages. Its programming combines cinema with other disciplines such as music, sound art, photography, and literature.
Curtocircuíto was born in 2003 as an initiative of the City Council of Santiago de Compostela with the intention of promoting film creation and giving visibility to the most innovative trends in audiovisual language. Over time, it has established itself as a premier festival that champions contemporaneity, risk, and quality in its programming. Taking cinema as its central focus, it develops an interdisciplinary proposal that integrates other disciplines such as photography, sound art, music, ethnography, and literature, fostering dialogue between different forms of artistic expression. This approach allows for an expanded audience experience and challenges traditional festival formats. Additionally, Curtocircuíto maintains a strong commitment to emerging creativity, the development of new audiences, and civic participation, actively contributing to cultural vitality and critical thinking.
