The OUFF is Galicia's oldest competitive international festival and a premier event for independent cinema. Its program includes screenings, awards, professional meetings, roundtables, masterclasses, and cultural activities.
The Ourense Film Festival is the oldest international competitive event held in Galicia. The first edition took place in 1996 and was born as the Ourense Independent Film Festival with the goal of establishing and offering new perspectives for the promotion of Galician cinema. In this competition, the independent genre is the protagonist, a type of film production that is gaining more and more followers and has sparked great interest among the public and film professionals. These are low-budget film productions in which imagination and originality are more important than the financial cost. It also awards nine other honorary prizes and hosts roundtable discussions, book presentations, masterclasses, exhibitions, and professional meetings.
