The Ourense Film Festival is the oldest international competition event held in Galicia. The first edition took place in 1996 and was founded as the Ourense Independent Film Festival with the aim of defining and offering new perspectives for the promotion of Galician cinema.
At this festival, the independent genre takes center stage, a type of film production that is gaining increasing popularity and has sparked great interest among the public and film professionals alike. These are low-budget productions, in which imagination and originality are more important than financial cost.
It also grants nine other honorary awards and hosts panel discussions, book presentations, masterclasses, exhibitions, and professional meetings.
