During the Second Republic (1931-1936), in Pueblanueva del Conde, an imaginary village located somewhere in the Galician estuaries, the Aldán, Deza, Churruchao and Sarmiento families are at odds with Cayetano Salado, owner of the local fleet and shipyards and new chieftain of the town.
