The international feature film Titanic Ocean, produced by the Galician company Frida Films, will premiere tomorrow, May 20, at the Cannes Film Festival (France) with a screening as part of the Un Certain Regard section, followed by a specific promotional event supported by the Xunta de Galicia to amplify the film's exposure at the prestigious French festival.Frida Films has been involved in the project from its very early stages, following a contact with the film's director, Greek filmmaker Konstantina Kotzamani, at the prestigious Torino Film Lab. The project's artistic and international potential led the Galician company to become its first co-producer and to receive a grant from the Ministry of Culture, Language, and Youth for its development in 2022.The film, which is highly auteur-driven, has evolved into a large-scale co-production involving five countries. It was filmed entirely in Japan, with a European cast and much of the technical crew, and was put together by producers from Greece, Germany, Romania, Spain, and Japan. Throughout the entire process, Frida Films accompanied the project's evolution from its inception to its completion, actively participating in its financial and international structure.p>Ocean Titan will culminate that journey tomorrow, after being selected to premiere in Un Certain Regard, the section of the Cannes Film Festival that has its own jury parallel to the official competition, focused on discovering new talents and promoting proposals with innovative and bold visions and styles within the global landscape. The film, classified as science fiction, fantasy, and drama, is set in the teenage universe of a special boarding school that trains young women to become professional mermaids. The opening screening of Ocean Titan will take place tomorrow in the iconic Debussy Hall at the Palais, with the attendance of part of the crew, as well as institutional representatives from all the territories participating in the project. Following the screening, a specific promotional event will take place, with the expected attendance of specialized press, accredited audiovisual agents, and influential professionals in the global film industry. With the selection of Océano Titánico at the Cannes Film Festival, the Government of Galicia continues to add titles linked to its audiovisual policy that achieve presence and recognition at the world's most important festivals. Thus, following the historic 2025 edition, with two Galician-funded films (Sirat and Romería) in the official section, this year's representation at the most prestigious and relevant European film festival is maintained.
