The Novos Cinemas festival opened its 10th anniversary edition in Pontevedra with the Galician premiere of As liñas descontinuas, the latest film by filmmaker Anxos Fazáns, produced by Sétima and supported by a grant from the Galician Government for its production. This is the first stop for the event, which will run in the city of Pontevedra until December 14, combining the presence of prominent voices from the most emerging European cinema with a broad Galician representation in the various exhibition and audiovisual training sections.

The director of the Galician Agency for Cultural Industries, Jacobo Sutil, participated in the opening ceremony held at the Principal Theater, where he highlighted the essential role of Novos Cinemas as a space that champions creative risk, places pedagogy at the center of its programming, and fosters professional exchange for Galician talent, as well as the visibility it gives to new formats and voices in today's landscape. In this regard, he described the event as "useful and committed," both for the space it provides for all professional agents in the sector and for its connection with the new generations of Galician audiovisual. He also recalled that this event is part of the competitions that the Galician Government supports each year through its grant call for audiovisual festivals, a program that in 2025 distributed 300,000 euros among 10 strategic events in this field.

The current edition of Novos Cinemas, which last week presented its first Cinematography Award to Catalan director Carla Simón, is celebrating its tenth anniversary with an extensive program that continues to bet on the union of ongoing training, sectoral promotion, and film exhibition as ways to detect the most emerging talent, both from Galicia and from outside our Community.
