The Xunta has just launched a new edition of the short film catalog Shorts from Galicia,These titles were selected by a specialized working group from a public call and, prioritarily, based on an artistic criterion. Through them, the goal is to continue shining a spotlight on audiovisual talent, which the Galician Government supports through its annual grant program for the sector, among other initiatives.
Subsidized Productions
Thus, six of the nine short films in Shorts from Galicia receive financial support from the Secretariat of Culture, Language, and Youth through two of the calls for grants from the Galician Agency for Cultural Industries: Lucus, Escala un cincuenta mil, O corpo de Cristo, Noutro tempo, and Avisa cando chegues were subsidized through the line for the production and co-production of Galician projects, while A pena was in the specific call for the promotion of audiovisual talent.
Shorts from Galicia 2026 will begin its outreach at the market associated with the Clermont-Ferrand festival, considered the world's leading event for professionals dedicated to the production, dissemination, and distribution of short films. There, it will be promoted through professional meetings and one-on-one meetings with representatives of the main international distributors and festivals accredited at the French event.
