This castle stands as the most significant military construction in Ferrol. Its construction began in 1557, although the current building dates back to the 18th century, when it was refurbished. It's one of the most representative examples of large bastioned batteries. This design included a section with cannon batteries facing the sea and another area with bastion systems (projecting walls). Right across, you can see the Castle of La Palma and the Ferrol estuary.
