For centuries, Monforte de Lemos has been a reference town. Situated on the banks of the Cabe River, it holds a central position in the productive Lemos Valley. It serves as a vital hub in communications, particularly in railway connections. Considered the capital of Ribeira Sacra, its monumental character is epitomized by the Torre da Homenaxe (Homage Tower) of the Castle of the Counts of Lemos. This towering structure, standing at thirty meters in height, was built between the 13th and 14th centuries and, along with the medieval wall, was declared a Cultural Heritage Site in 1994.
